There’s also the question of…well…what the fuck is even going on? Lobell has a habit of skipping explanation in the beginning of each issue and leading with questions. Roy has only two friends? So, apparently, Roy’s entire relationship with Dick, Wally, and the other Titans has been totally retconned? Either that or we’re once again reminded we’re dealing with a writer who doesn’t understand his characters and the relationships they’ve cultivated over time. But the part that stuck out the most for me was this. We begin with shots of Roy being tortured by the Blight for…some reason. And once again, we start the issue with a sigh and a heartbreaking reminder of how Lobdell is personally handling the reboot. Pretty much all of Judd Winick’s work with Jason he refers to whenever anybody asks about Jason’s past. I do not expect anybody to feel the same way, and if you like or dislike this book, this writer, this issue, or anything else, that’s fine.(Also, be aware before you come at me with “but it’s a reboot and the past doesn’t matter”, Scott Lobdell has stated himself in interviews that the books still part of Jason’s continuity include Jason’s run as Robin, Death in the Family, Lost Days, and Under the Hood. Usual disclaimer applies- let me state that this is my oppinion of the issue. It’s that time again- a review of the new Red Hood and the Outlaws
