I did 4 shows there and it’s been 4 years now I’ve been Ruthie’s touring keyboardist. Ruthie came and played The Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis (my home town), shortly after that tour and she asked me to join them. I met Ruthie while I was touring as Bo Diddley’s keyboardist. We have been actively performing and recording ever since. In 2001 I recorded “The Other Side - Scott Miller” with my new band. We recorded “Arms Of The Blues” - (Cannonball Records, produced by Jim Gaines), and toured world-wide until I decided to start my own project again in 2001. In 1996 I joined forces with blues singer “Big John Dickerson & Blue Chamber”. Then it was off to the practice room’s with my “walkman”, pencil, and manuscript paper.Īfter Berklee, I returned home to Minneapolis and began touring, writing and recording with various original band’s. I would attain these great recordings at the incredible Berklee music library. Craig Najjar, pushed me through all (4) years of proficiency requirements and had me transcribing piano and Saxophone solo’s from the likes George Shearing, Chick Corea, Bill Evans, & Charlie Parker. I could only afford one year of college there, but it was one of the best year’s of my life. After graduating Wayzata High School I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA., on a partial “Chick Corea Jazz Incentive Scholarship”(1986-1987). I started with the traditional and classical, then progressed in to Jazz piano studies when I was 14. He appears on her "Live At Antone's"-Ruthie Foster Family Band. Scottie is also the touring keyboardist for 2010 Grammy nominee and multi-BMA recipient Ruthie Foster & The Family Band. Music can be with blues, jazz, classical, funk and soul influences that blend together seamlessly. This ”blues-pianist” shows again and again how versatile his Recent theater performances find Scottie adding string quartet to the mix, further breaking the boundaries of style and genre. He performs worldwide as a solo-artist, or with the incredibly funky “SMB” (Scottie Miller Band), (which features drummer Mark O’Day, guitarist Joe Cruz, and bassist Kevin Rowe).
